What Are Your 2013 Reading Goals?

It's a new year filled with lots of new book releases. So you know what that means? Time to set new reading goals for 2013!

Some people set a goal for a certain number of books to read. I did this in 2011 and reached my goal (yay!), but fell short of my 2012 goal (boo!).

But you don't have to limit yourself to one challenge. Here are some other ideas to spice up your 2013 goals:

-Decide to read a certain # outside of your usual go-to-genre
-Decide to read a certain # in a different format, like audiobooks, ebooks, etc.

So I'm going to try and read 5 books this year outside of my usual genres (YA/MG, sci-fi/fantasy/paranormal fiction, and graphic novels). Maybe I will try some historical fiction! Or a mystery!

I'm also setting my overall goal for the year at 52 books, down from the 104 I didn't reach for 2012. (This still makes me grumble. 84/104 *shakes fist*) I think I can no longer deny the fact that I'm too busy to read two books a week, despite how much I want to.

But enough about MY goals. How about you? What are your reading goals for 2013?

  1. I have quite some challenges, because I think it's fun to see how far I can get :D Reading outside your comfort zone is a great goal! Good luck.

  2. My goals are to read more for fun and less for scheduled reviews. No numbers, no challenges!

  3. I'm shooting for 40 because I love to read, but I need to write too and finding that balance is hard for me.

  4. I've set a goal for 50 books the past few years and exceeded. I adjusted my goal this year and fell short, so I'm sticking with 50. I remember about six or seven years ago I was amazed to hear someone had read 50 books in a year. I had to make a concerted effort to read more, watch less TV, etc. I think audio books and ebooks help, because I always have a story to read or listen to, no matter where I am.

Thank you for considering me, but I do not take book review or writing critique requests.

Also, this is now an award-free zone. As much as I truly appreciate blog awards, I simply do not have the time to participate or pass them along any longer.
